Hemmings Find of the Day – 1966 Ford Fairlane 500
It would be interesting to know the history of this 1966 Ford Fairlane 500 for sale on Hemmings.com. Whoever originally bought it – complete with R-code dual-quad 425-hp 427, four on the floor, bench seat, and little else – obviously had racing on the mind, but the seller indicates that it has remained in that configuration since new and presumably never relegated to track-only duty. So was it a midnight street racer? An occasional track terror? Or just a fast daily driver? We do know that it sports an incredible restoration nowadays, but hopefully that won’t keep it from lining up for more side-by-side throwdowns in the future. From the seller’s description:
The fact that most of the original fifty-seven 427 Fairlanes were modified to one extent or another for racing makes this one a rare piece indeed. Carefully restored with NOS parts that would likely be impossible to find today, this White 427 Fairlane is still in as-original condition and presents a first-rate opportunity for collectors.
