Hemmings Find of the Day – 1966 Chevrolet El Camino
To some, the line between stock and modified is about as stark as a razor wire fence. To others, such as the builder of this 1966 Chevrolet El Camino for sale on Hemmings.com, it’s a little blurry, allowing for a car to look perfectly stock but still use select upgrades that don’t detract from the car’s original flavor. From the seller’s description:
327 L79 4 speed with 350hp. The Suffix Code is T0610HA. A total nut and bolt, rotisserie restoration on a Baltimore, MD built car. The engine was completely rebuilt with an upgraded solid lifter camshaft, a Harden crank, 202 fuellie heads and generates now 350hp. During restoration as many as possible NOS parts were used. The paint is about as perfect as we have ever seen. The panel gaps are better than factory. The dashboard has a working factory clock and tachometer. The bucket seats are from a 1967 El Camino with the button release on the side. The undercarriage is perfect and totally as it came from the factory. The car has 4 wheel power disc brakes.
This car is perfect, mechanically as well as cosmetically. The attention to detail is astonishing. All the trim tags, markings etc are all there. The restoration was completed 3 years ago and the Chevy has been in the same ownership for the last 15 years.
