Hemmings Find of the Day – 1963 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk
Back in the early 1960s, somebody knew what they were doing when they bought this 1963 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk for sale on Hemmings.com. Not only does it have the 289hp supercharged R2 289-cu.in. V-8, it also has the four-speed manual transmission, the latter a particularly uncommon choice for a car that was meant more as a sport luxury car along the lines of the Thunderbird. Nowadays, the Hawk looks to be a complete rust-free runner, one that could use some detailing or a light restoration or could hit the road just as is. From the seller’s description:
factory supercharged R2 289 V-8 and four speed transmission. This one was made before “Super Hawks” making it a rare survivor. Purchased from a private collection, the car is stock with new tires, brakes, and ignition. This is an older restoration that presents well, but needs some finishing touches. Records, manuals, and extra parts included.
