Hemmings Find of the Day – 1963 Studebaker Avanti

While it’s possible this 1963 Studebaker Avanti for sale on Hemmings.com has an R3 engine in it (the engine numbers, not provided in the ad, would tell us for sure), making it possible that this is one of nine R3 Avantis, we’ve also seen many an R1 and R2 Avanti upgraded with R3 parts over the years. Still, it’s an Avanti with a supercharged engine, not something you see every day. From the seller’s description:

Real Studebaker Avanti R2 (may be R3, see below), 1963. Last inspected Nov 2010 and registered Sept 2011. One of about 3,834 total made by Studebaker in 1963, this one is one of the later ones at #3329. Garaged, unrestored, but new interior and dash, all knobs and parts, Stude seatbelts. Reliable, starts and runs every time. Speedometer shows 42,573, but unverified. Front bumper needs rechroming. Wire wheels not original stock, stock steering wheel needs to be restored, original radio doesn’t work, but included. Everything else ready for concours restoration. Losing garage, must sell.
