Hemmings Find of the Day – 1960 Chevrolet Bel Air
We’re guessing this 1960 Chevrolet Bel Air four-door hardtop for sale on Hemmings.com hasn’t resided in New Hampshire its entire life. A largely original car (and I don’t think anybody would give the owner(s) of it guff for replacing the brake components to make it more driveable), it’s remarkable not only for its level of preservation, but also for sustaining that level while also remaining on the road and not buried away in a barn somewhere. From the seller’s description:
Perfect example of unmolested survivor with 79,000 original miles. Totally turnkey & 100 percent complete! Runs and drives perfect. Registered and inspected, with clear title. Well-maintained. No rust. Always garaged. Drive this car home without a second thought.
I am the third owner, and I’ve enjoyed this car for approximately 15 years. Great car to drive as is or the ideal “virgin” to hotrod your own way rather than buy one that six or more owners have hacked together.
This car is “as built”… untouched & un-molested: Factory Paint and Interior • Factory-Dated Glass • 283 V8 with Powerglide Transmission • Trunk Liner and Cardboard • Spare Tire • Complete Jack Assembly and Instructions • Ignition Key with Factory Code • All Chrome and Trim
Work done for safety and maintenance only: Changed Master Cylinder, Wheel Cylinders, Brake Hoses, Fuel Pump, Front Wheel Bearings & Seals • Checked Generator & Regulator • Changed all fluids • Receives regular oil changes
This is an extremely solid car; chassis and floors – all original – are free of rust.
Minor Flaws: 1 rip in headliner, 1 small dent in trunk lid and passenger’s rear door (as seen in close-up pictures), the usual door dings, fabric on front seat worn, and very top of rear seat has 2 punctures
