Hemmings Find of the Day – 1956 Chrysler Windsor convertible
Phantom cars are fun because they offer a glimpse at what could’ve been, and some are relatively simple to put together. Take, for instance, this 1956 Chrysler Windsor convertible for sale on Hemmings.com, done up as a 300B because Chrysler didn’t see fit to build a 300-series convertible until a year later. After seeing this phantom B ‘vert, we’re hard pressed to figure out “Why not?” From the seller’s description:
Chrysler did not offer a 300B convertible in 1956, but this is an authentic interpretation of what it would look like had they produced one. The body is a 1956 Chrysler Windsor Convertible with the grille professionally modified to reflect a 300B. It has tan leather Gary Goers interior, which was unique to only the 300B Coupes for that particular year. Also has the unique 300B Series emblems and badging and of course the 354 Hemi, with Dual Quad Carbs, that puts out 340hp. Ground-up restoration performed by the noted Bob Hayden of Kalispell, Montana, who has performed many high quality restorations on these rare letter cars over the years.
