Hemmings Find of the Day – 1956 Chevrolet 210 two-door sedan
Go to any drag strip in the 1970s and 1980s and you’d have seen several these: big-block powered, tubbed 1955 or ’56 Chevrolets, with a Turbo Hydra-Matics or Powerglides and ratchet shifters, 12-bolts on leaf springs with slapper bars, flip front ends and slot mags (unless they’d updated to Centerlines.)
Before the first-gen Camaros, and later the onslaught of Fox Mustangs, GM G-bodies and S-10 pickups, this was the formula for quarter-mile supremacy.
In a heads-up race today, this 1956 Chevy 210, for sale on Hemmings.com, would likely suffer a first-round elimination to a stock 2015 Corvette ZO6 driven by a guy who has to roll down his power window so the starter can remind him to turn the air conditioning off, because he’s dripping water on the concrete launch pad.
But, still, this… this is a real drag car. From the owner’s description:
1956 Chevrolet 210 2dr sedan, vintage 70s race car, stroked 454, 400 trans, 12-bolt, roll cage, motor fresh, runs strong, original lettering, a nice car for shows or vintage racing.
