Hemmings Find of the Day – 1955 International RM-120 Metro van
With some mechanical work, there seems to be no reason this 1955 International RM-120 Metro delivery van for sale on Hemmings.com couldn’t be pressed back into service, and the seller rattles off a number of possible uses for it, from food truck to swap meet parts hauler. Sure, one could restore it and show it around, but it’d be a shame to let the utility built into a Metro van like this go to waste. From the seller’s description:
The body is in fair to good condition. It is all stock as far as I can tell, perhaps the good working floor shift 4 speed trans may have been added. The clutch works great. Both side doors open, the rear doors open, fold out and open again and locking to the side of the Van and making it east to move cargo in and out. It has been stored under cover since I’ve owned it and was in storage before that. Inline 6 cyl runs good but smokes(valve seals?). It starts and drives fine. but the brakes do not work. The emergency brake does and allows me to move it around. The tires are in very good condition. This Old School Van is about as cool as you can get for a Coffee Wagon, Food Cart or just show up to the Antique show hauling your stuff. I’ve got the Oregon title and it’s dated 1-10-1958. I also have the owners manual. Its a good solid old unit and has great appeal to leave it as it is or, its all there if a restoration is your goal.
