1951 Nash Statesman Super

Every car has a story, and we can’t help wonder about the tale behind this 1951 Nash Statesman Super, for sale on Hemmings.com. The Nash Statesman wasn’t a limited-production car, nor was it the kind of automobile likely to turn neighbors green with envy. Why, then, would someone buy Nash’s sensible midsize sedan and not drive it? As described by the seller, the car is all original, with a mere 305 miles on the odometer, and appearance-wise, it’s hard to refute the claim. Sure, we suppose the car could have been carefully restored by a past owner, but it’s been in the same family since the early 1980s, and no one was likely to fund a ground-up restoration of a Nash Statesman Super four-door sedan in the late 1970s. Assuming the claims are correct, the next owner will be getting a car that is very likely the most original example of the model on the planet. From the seller’s description:

1951 Nash Statesman Super, All original with 305 original documented miles. Car is complete minus battery. You will never find another Nash like this one. A true barn find. The only damage that I can find is a dent on the bottom of the driver door. This vehicle was purchased by my Father in the early 1980’s; he passed away in 2009 and this vehicle came to me as part of his estate. The vehicle has been in storage since the early 1980’s and has only recently seen daylight when it was moved to my garage. The vehicle has not been run since it was placed in storage, nor have I attempted to start it. The Nash was recently appraised and I will be glad to forward the appraisal to all interested parties.
