Hemmings Find of the Day – 1935 Dodge Fire Wagon
Originally built for a Long Island fire department to use in fire tournaments, this 1935 Dodge Fire Wagon for sale on Hemmings.com saw some legitimate rescue use as well following a 1938 hurricane. In the years since, it has been used as a commuter, been stored behind a barn, and eventually treated to a full restoration, as Matt Litwin related in his story on the truck in the February 2013 issue of Hemmings Classic Car. From the seller’s description:
These trucks were built by the Approved Fire Equipment Corporation of Rockville Centre Long Island. They were made for New York State Fireman’s Tournament Competitions. This truck had 8,712 original miles on it when it had a complete body-off restoration to include engine rebuild. It is 16 feet long and 5 feet high to the top of the windshield.
