Hemmings Find of the Day – 1934 Chevrolet Master Pickup
Inspector “Dirty Harry” Callahan, portrayed by Clint Eastwood, summed it up best: A man’s got to know his limitations. That applies to automotive restorations as well, since many new to the hobby can quickly find themselves overextended mechanically as well as financially. The current owner of this 1934 Chevrolet Master pickup for sale on Hemmings.com appears to know when to say when; faced with a restoration parts cost that exceeds his budget, he’s throwing in the towel and offering the truck for sale. As described, the former rural U.S. Mail delivery truck is all-original and without any serious body rot, so it would be a shame to see the pickup parted out as long as there’s somebody willing to see this project through to the end. From the seller’s description:
Excellent condition rustwise. Cab needs wood, some of the door wood is still good. Comes with extra front fenders and a hood for a similar year truck, spare hood is not as deep. Original right down to the headlights, original engine and transmission. This was reportedly a US Mail delivery truck in the Colville WA area, by the Canadian border. I drove up and dragged it out of the barn with intentions of putting it back together the way it is. The wood kit is cost prohibitive for my budget so I am offering it for sale. It is an incredible place to start a full restoration.
