Hemmings Find of the Day – 1965 McLaren and other movie cars

1965 McLaren

All this talk of movie cars this week has me looking through the Hemmings.com classifieds for more. I see some Bentleys and Rolls-Royces owned by movie studio executives, Miley Cyrus’s Mini, Bruce Willis’s 1988 Lincoln limousine, a  1960 Ford Country Squire that appeared in Oliver Stone’s “The Doors,” a 1950 Ford Country Squire that appeared in some movie I’ve never heard of, and all of Volo’s various listings (including, apparently, the actual Miami Vice Ferrari Daytona).

But the one that really caught my eye was this 1965 McLaren, offered for $350,000 out of Arvada, Colorado. Not only does it have racing history, but Elvis allegedly drove it in “Spinout.” From the seller’s description:

McLaren 1965 M1-A, chassis #20-01, very first customer car built by Elva for McLaren, extensive owner history & documentation from new, driven by Graham Hill in LA Times Grand Prix 1965, movie car w/Elvis driving it in Spin Out 1966, Goodwood Festival of Speed participant driven by Lord March at McLaren tribute in 2000, very rare opportunity to own a piece of auto/race history.
