Goodwood Revival 2011

Published by Mike on

Our good friend and occasional overseas correspondent Simon Ford, of the utterly work-ethic-destroying carspotting website and Twitter feed, recently went to the Goodwood Revival – something I think all of us on this side of the pond are jealous of. And if you weren’t jealous before, you certainly will be after seeing Simon’s photos. Goodwood is certainly the place to be if you’re into vintage cars or airplanes, and the 2011 Revival looks as though it was particularly spectacular.

Without further ado, Simon’s coverage:

After going to the Goodwood moving motor show this year, I was hungry to return, and I wanted to go again as soon as possible, but, of course, I’d have to wait another year.

Luckily, though, I won tickets to the Goodwood Revival, which is a classic car show on a scale of epic proportions, and has the greatest combined value of cars at any classic show I know of, with an estimated value of over £500 million (yes, you read that right). The Revival features classic racing cars of yesteryear, including Ferraris, Maseratis, and Lolas, to name a few. People are encouraged to get into the spirit of the festival and dress in clothes from the vintage era, which creates a most memorable atmosphere. (And boy, what an atmosphere it was)

Now, I could go on all day about how good it was, but words won’t even describe it.

It really is a case of “you don’t know how good it is until you’ve been!” Only multiply that by at least ten.

Pictures are worth a thousand words, so to try and capture the event, I’m just going to show you a few of the 240 pictures I took there.

Here’s hoping I get to go again next year, as it really is the best car show I’ve been to.
