Goodguys 2014 Custom of the Year Announced

James Hetfield’s coach built “Black Pearl” he designed with builder Rick Dore has been named Goodguys’ 2014 Custom of the Year. The aluminum handmade body is an amalgam of different European cars from the 1930s, with current mechanicals under the hood. A 302 Ford rated at 375 hp is hooked to an AOD automatic trans. The body was built by Marcel and Luc DeLay, and then painted by Darryl Hollenbeck in PPG Deep Black, which contrasts nicely with the polished brass trim. Ron Mangus in Fontana, California stitched the leather interior.
