Four-Links – the “please leave” Brougham, the Streur-Hoppe streamliner, the Ford ad collection, and the 125 MPH TR
Typically, a 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham will get its owner into just about any social gathering. Not so for Steve Drale, who – according to an account on Kustomrama – bought Sinatra’s old Brougham and tried to elbow his way into a gathering of Hollywood celebs with similar cars.
* The Old Motor assembled some photos and video clips of a rear-engine streamliner built by a couple Consolidated Aircraft employees in the Thirties. The work looks pro; wonder where it is now?
* Duke University’s libraries announced this past week that it has digitized 12,000 Ford ads, all formerly part of the J. Walter Thompson Co. advertising agency’s archives.
* Anybody fortunate enough to stop by the Royal Automobile Club’s clubhouse in Pall Mall this week will get a glimpse of a unique Triumph TR, the very car that set a speed record at 125 MPH in May 1953.
* Finally, speaking of vintage speed, a set of four Shell documentaries on the early days of motorsport have been found and recently uploaded to YouTube. (via)
