Four-Links, bonus edition – vans, trucks, roadsters, Retromobile
Gotta clear out the bookmarks this week. That means you get a double shot of Four-Links today. Which makes Eight-Links. But I always insert an extra one, so that means Ten-Links. Dig?
* I have many favorite blogs, and when two of them link to the same thing independently, I know it’s worth checking out. Both Hooniverse and Telstar Logistics discovered Vans and the Places They Were, the custom van photography of Joe Stevens, which is Joe’s attempt to document these nearly forgotten relics of the 1970s before they disappear from the streets of SoCal altogether. (I see now that BoingBoing linked to it too. Still worth linking to.)
* BigLorryBlog presents more unique vintage photography of trucks at work.
* Longtime blog readers know I’m always on the lookout for photos and information on the Ralph Schenck streamliner, and the SCTA itself recently posted the first period color photograph I’ve yet seen of it, along with several more color photographs from a 1948 SCTA meet at El Mirage, courtesy Jill Durkee-Burgoyne. Huh, never knew it was beige.
* I’ve been waiting for a report from Kit Foster regarding this year’s Retromobile, and he came through this week. More photos, including the above shot, can be found at Speedhunters.
* Finally, via our pal Bumbeck at Clunkbucket, the ongoing efforts of a shop to entirely gut a 1969 Honda 360, fab an entirely new suspension and power its rear wheels with an electric motor.
