Four-Links – roving Landy, Tjaarda teardropper, the return of c4c?, Jeepers Creepers COE
* What’s cooler than a Forward Control Land Rover? How about taking one on various expeditions around the world, as this South African couple did? (via, kinda)
* John Tjaarda, working for Briggs Manufacturing, toyed quite a bit with the idea of rear-engined streamliners in the 1930s, as we’ve seen by his patent filings and in older SIA articles. Now, we see in the July 1931 issue of Modern Mechanics another expression of his ideas on that topic.
* Will we see cash for clunkers make a return in 2010? Billionaire investor Wilbur Ross certainly hopes so, and Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood talked about the possibility at the Detroit Auto Show this week.
* I’ve yet to see the first Jeepers Creepers or any of those Final Destination movies, but maybe I should check out the former, which featured a 1941 Chevrolet COE as the baddy’s ride. From digging through the comments on some YouTube posts, it appears there were at least three of these trucks made for the movie, and all three are still out there somewhere. (via)
* Finally, the best garage restoration we’ve seen this year.
