Four-Links – Persu Perfect, Mexican Innovator, rat rod history, Minker Motor Co.
* New blogs are always welcome in my RSS reader, and one that I’ve added this week is DieselPunk, where I came across the above photo of Aurel Persu’s Automobilul Aerodinamic Perfect, the rear-engined vehicle on which he refined his aerodynamic principles. I’m gonna dig this blog. (via)
* Our pals at BigLorryBlog tossed this mystery truck over to us in hopes we could provide some details, but all we know is what they provided – that it was spotted at an auto show in Mexico City in September 1992. I’m expecting Hugo90 to know the answer off the top of his head…
* It’s an idea whose time has come, apparently: Critically examine the rat rodding phenomenon, not with first-hand reporting, but through the lens of history. Stoner over at Autoculture has started a series of such posts with Jim “Jake” Jacobs’ “Jakeopage” ‘29 tub, Robert Williams’ Eights and Aces and Mark Idzardi’s Purple People Eater.
* One of Shorpy’s most recent photos was this shot taken outside the Minker Motor Co., a dealership for Columbia. It’s almost too easy to track down the location – 1333 14th St. NW, Washington, D.C., where the building still stands, now housing a web design company.
* Finally, a great moment-of-zen-type shot of a motorcycle hillclimb in Brisbane. Dig the vehicles in the background. (via)
