First Look Gallery: 24 Hours of Le Mans 2017

Our home teams are about to go to battle on the global stage. Chevy’s C7.R and Ford’s recently resurrected GT are locked and loaded in Paris paddocks awaiting the wave of the start flag for the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans. The race is the longest running sports car endurance event, and is one of the most physically and mechanically brutal events in motor sports. Last year, Ford took first place in the GT class, a victory that came exactly 50 years after the 1-2-3 victory at Le Mans in 1966. The race rekindled the half-century-old rivalry with Ferrari, but that’s not the only brand that will be headhunting Ford on the track. Chevrolet has a long history of racing success with the R-series Corvettes and the current iteration is an absolute weapon. There’s a very good chance this year’s running will be a brawl between Michigan’s cross-town rivals. Practice for all teams will be run tomorrow, with qualifying taking place on Thursday. Saturday is the big day with the 24-hour race kicking off at 3:00pm.
