touring Yosemite in a Buick

Thank you all for indulging me as I shared the car photos from the Strohl family album last week. This week, we’re back to seeing the family album car photos that you’ve found, starting with the above photo of a 1914 Buick B-25, submitted by Joan Beck and her son Trey Longmire. Trey wrote:

The folks in the car are ancestors of ours, members of the Cressey family, one of the pioneering families of Modesto, CA.  The photo was taken at Yosemite, CA and the photo, as you can see, is dated July 8, 1915.

See it full-size below.

1931 Chevrolet five-window coupe

Next up, Jerry Collard of Aurora, Colorado, found this photo of his father-in-law, taken on his farm in Akron, Colorado, in the mid-1930s, standing next to a 1931 Chevrolet AE five-window coupe.

And a whole bunch came in from reader Marcus Welch, of Longview, Texas:

Grandfather's runabout

The first is my grandfather’s “custom” runabout, circa 1920, in Longview, Texas.

two fastbacks

The second is my mother’s parent’s home in Harrison County, Texas, which burned in the 1940s.

1953 Buick

The 1953 Buick Special is my father’s car, with me in the the scooter and my older brother Thomas. Other than the one Dodge (see comment below) my Dad drove Buicks until the 1970s.

Uncle Earl in a Crosley Hot Shot

The Crosley picture is Karl and Doris, my mother in law and father in law, his brother Earl had a Hot Shot that he retored in the 1990s. Also attached.

Imperial

Finally the 57 Imperial was my grandmother, Alta Rita’s car, my father also bought a 57 Dodge and he says both were a piece of junk.

Thanks, folks! And if you out there in Hemmings Nation have some neat old car pics to share from your family albums, please do!
