Detroit, 1966
Noticing all the color street scenes we’ve been posting lately, Greg Steinmayer passed on several color transparencies that his grandfather, Edward Satory, shot in the mid-Sixties. They’re worth savoring, so we’ll dole ‘em out just one or two at a time. First up is this shot of Eight Mile Road in Detroit. Detroiters, feel free to pinpoint where on Eight Mile this is – I couldn’t find any of the landmarks here on Google Street View. Based on the shadows, I believe Mr. Satory was looking west at the time.
One more shot from Eight Mile, looking east. Again, not a clue where along Eight Mile this was shot. So tell us what you see in these two shots.
