Taiwan Gas Main Explosion

Dashcam video has brought us some fantastic images over the years, but it recorded true tragedy overnight on July 31 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. A gas main explosion in the city was responsible for at least 25 deaths and over 250 injuries, according to The Wall Street Journal. The cause of the horrific event is still under investigation. However, people in the area reported smelling gas beforehand.

The mix of dashcam, surveillance, cell phone and drone video shows several portions of this tragedy and its aftermath. Flames shot up several feet into the sky and explosions rocked the area. Now, as far as you can see, the road has been blown apart with huge chunks of asphalt and overturned cars littering the area. We extend our condolences to anyone affected by this disaster.
