Another great pair of images posted recently to the H.A.M.B.’s Vintage shots from days gone by thread by swi66 are these two of traffic flowing past Chicago’s McCormick Place while construction was going on. Given the ages of the cars sitting in traffic, we’d guess that it’s not the initial construction on McCormick Place, rather the rebuilding that took place after the 1967 fire. The venue reopened in 1971, and it looks like construction’s nearing completion, so we’ll attach that date to these photos. If you can give us a better date (anybody have Ray Charles’s comprehensive touring schedule from that time period?), let us know.
