The Pro Builder’s Shootout at the 2017 Car Craft Summer Nationals is shaping up to be a very tight competition. This just in- Muscle Car Restorations sent pictures of the car they will be entering in the competition- this 1964 Galaxie XL500. They are still working on the car, but even in this unfinished state, the car is stunning. Here are some of the juicy details. The engine is a Keith Craft-built 514 ci 460 with a “lumpy” Comp hydraulic roller cam and Edelbrock cylinder heads. The transmission is a Tremec TKO 600 five-speed with a Ram clutch. A 9-inch is out back, built with Quick Performance 35-spline axles, 4.10:1 gears from Yukon, and an Eaton Detroit True Trac differential. Other highlights include a Ridetech Shockwave suspension, SSBC brakes, and US Mag 18-inch wheels. Oh, and the paint is a custom-mixed Candy Brandywine sprayed by MCR’s Jason Balow.
