Boston, 1980s
When exactly these photos of the Washington Street Elevated and a couple of its stations – most notably Forest Hills and Dover – in Boston were taken, the Library of Congress‘s records don’t say. We know that the Washington Street Elevated last ran in April 1987, after about 80 years of service, and given the cars parked on the streets near and under the Elevated, we’re presuming that these photos weren’t taken all that long before then. Perhaps a memento from the Elevated’s last days? What do you see here?
