The Midnight Drags is the event for heads-up eighth-mile drag racers held at the I-57 Dragstrip in Benton, Illinois on Saturday night, June 28, after the Car Craft Magazine Street Machine Nationals in nearby DuQuoin.

To compete, your car needs to pass an NHRA tech inspection for the e.t. and mph your car is capable of. All cars must run a DOT tire. Only rear-wheel-drive American vehicles may compete. No motorcycles or diesels please.

All racers will be required to pay $15 for a tech card upon entry to the track. The fee includes registration for test ‘n’ tune and track admission for the driver only. Crew members, friends, and family need only pay the $10 spectator admission (12 & under are free). Entries to the 16-car Car Craft Magazine Midnight Drags field are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and will pay an additional $35 for the Car Craft Magazine Midnight Drags competition.

Competitors will receive a windshield banner that must be displayed on the vehicle at all times.

Pairs will be selected at random by tech officials for single eliminations on a heads-up format using a Sportsman tree. The top eliminator will be awarded a Car Craft jacket, a check for $1,000, and coverage in Car Craft Magazine.

Car Craft Magazine staff will be leaving the fairgrounds at 7 p.m. to drive to the track. Gates open for Saturday night test and tune at 6 p.m.
