Throughout the ’60s, automotive icon Mickey Thompson seemed to pop up everywhere competitors gathered in the name of speed. Thompson had served former sponsor General Motors well during his Pontiac years, but he later enjoyed the support of Pontiac’s cross-town rivals at Ford, specifically former Pontiac General Manager and then FoMoCo president Semon E. “Bunkie” Knudsen.
