Steve Carpenter wanted to sell this 1957 Ford before he even started on the Galpin Gasser III project—the car was in that bad of shape. Carpenter knows how to sell; he’s the sales manager for Galpin Ford’s Galpin Auto Sports division. Maybe it’s just that he doesn’t know how to buy—which would be surprising since he’s been around cool cars and car magazines since he was a kid hangin’ with his dad, Phil Carpenter, who worked at Popular Hot Rodding, Super Chevy, and 1001 Truck and Van Ideas for Argus Publishing back in the ’60s and ’70s.
