Steve Jarvis, a retired high school teacher and coach, grew up watching Willys coupes race at California’s San Gabriel Raceway, igniting his passion for Gassers.

Steve Jarvis, a retired high school teacher and coach, grew up watching Willys coupes race at California’s San Gabriel Raceway, igniting his passion for Gassers. He bought his first Willys in 1968, a $150 coupe that was missing its front clip, and hoped to finish it, but his military service prevented him from ever building the race car he’d long wanted. It wasn’t until his tenure was up at Baldwin Park High School that his truck got underway.
