1933 Ford Coupe

It’s weird how the wheels of hot rodding can turn in ways that change lives and create new trends. As HOT ROD looks back at 65 years of the hobby, it’s clear there are some cars that have altered its landscape. The Boyd Coddington–built Vern Luce coupe is one of them. I say that with the most humble of assertions, as I was the person who designed it. By saying I designed it, I don’t mean the ’33 Ford; I’m old, but not that old. What I did was design the changes made to the ’33 Ford three-window coupe to achieve the transformation resulting in the Luce coupe. But it took a host of very talented individuals to go from paper to pavement.
